2020 has started, and with it the events and fairs dedicated to the world of technology.
In these first months, each manufacturer has advertised and will shortly launch its new line of products, each with its own characteristics and peculiarities and also with a few more innovations to remedy the criticisms of stagnation and lack of novelties in recent years.
Below is a brief analysis of 2020 Ruggtek devices and those that remain the best options in terms of specifications and value for money.
Ruggtek RP 550 and RPA 550: a small, portable and powerful handheld device.
RP 550 and RPA 550 can be defined as two “different twins”: they are both handhelds – therefore, neither laptops, nor tablets – that share the design and internal components, but have a fundamental difference in their operating system:
RP 550 has Windows 10 while RPA 550 – as suggested by the “A” in the acronym – runs Android.
A palmtop, as the name suggests, is a device designed to comfortably fit on the palm of the hand, and is therefore very light and easy to handle.
Like a laptop, the palmtop also has an internal battery that can be recharged and allows it to run for several hours without needing to be plugged to a power supply.
Despite having aesthetic similarities with a smartphone, a palmtop is not a smartphone and compared to it has less autonomy: this is due to internal components and, in the case of Windows, to a more energy-intensive operating system than a smartphone, which therefore doesn’t allow palmtops and handheld devices to have 24 hours autonomy.
Like a laptop, a palmtop has a larger battery. The difference with a laptop is, on the other hand, the absence of hard drives so that the memory can only be expanded by means of permanent ROMs or SD / Micro-SD cards (the same as smartphones and digital cameras).
Ruggtek RP 550 is a modern handheld device that offers users the convenience of a smartphone and the power of Windows 10 Pro.
A device designed taking into account the new 4.0 Industry standards that combine design and technological innovation, as well as resistance to shocks, falls and temperature variations.
RP 550 features a 5.5-inch capacitive multi-touch display with Gorilla Glass technology: a bright and bright display – up to 500 Nit – even in direct sunlight, with excellent definition thanks to the IPS technology; Gorilla Glass is a guarantee of resistance to scratches and falls to increase durability.

On a technical level, the device has an Intel x5 CPU, which is combined with 4GB of RAM memory: a combination that gives the operating system the ability to run without jamming or other problems, being able to run quite a few programs.
Ruggtek RPA 550 is, on an aesthetic level, the twin brother of the device just described, but changes in some hardware components and software.
This device, in fact, does not run Windows but Android 7 Nougat: a lighter, customizable, fluid operating system that, among other things, enjoys the largest Application Store ever.
Furthermore, due to the lightness of the system, the RPA 550 has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage – always expandable – combined with a MediaTek Quad-Core processor, which also allows smooth operativity. The provision of ports, functionality and certifications, however, remains the same as the Windows model.
Ruggtek RT 308: the evolution of the Rugged tablet.
Brand-new in the tablet world is Ruggtek RT 308, a new device in the range that focuses on compactness and light weight.
The tablet, always faithful to the “Rugged mission”, therefore with IP certification to resist splashes and dust, has 8.1 ” display – naturally multi-touch-screen – which makes it very small and easy to handle.
The Gorilla Glass technology, as seen, allows it to be very resistant to scratch.
Being compact does not mean giving up power: Intel Quad-Core CPU allows excellent operation of Windows 10 Professional, the most popular OS in the world and on which the main software runs. The CPU is joined by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage memory.

Il 2020 è iniziato, e con lui hanno già preso il via gli eventi e le fiere dedicati al mondo della tecnologia.
Ogni produttore in questi primi mesi ha pubblicizzato o lancerà la sua nuova linea di prodotti, ognuno con le sue caratteristiche e peculiarità e anche con qualche novità in più rispetto agli ultimi anni, per ovviare alle critiche di stagnazione e di assenza di novità.
A cosa punta un prodotto rugged.
La novità più interessante lato consumer rimane comunque quella legata al display pieghevole, introdotto già nel 2019 da due produttori e riproposto anche in questo 2020, migliorato, aggiornato e reso più utile sia da alcuni di quegli stessi produttori che lo avevano lanciato lo scorso anno, sia da qualche nuovo competitor. Ma il discorso rimane sempre lo stesso: lato consumer, sono design e funzionalità “da urlo” a farla da padrone, perché puntano a stupire l’utente finale invogliandolo a comprare questo o quel dispositivo.
Il settore Rugged è invece diverso e ha, quindi, altre priorità. Dispositivi di questo genere non puntano al largo pubblico – pur essendo presenti, in alcuni casi, nelle catene della grande distribuzione perché particolarmente appetibili per una nicchia di pubblico.
Sono prodotti legati al settore business, alla produzione, al mondo industriale.
Un prodotto Rugged, quando aggiornato, non punta a cambiare il design per “farsi più bello”: una novità del settore, perciò, non introduce nuovi colori, nuove sfumature o una nuova disposizione delle fotocamere, ma cercherà piuttosto di migliorare alcuni lati che nel prodotto precedente sono risultati critici, come il peso, la memoria, la dotazione di porte e altre funzionalità utili.
Un prodotto Rugged deve essere per prima cosa funzionale e utile, ma soprattutto resistente e avere una buona dotazione di ingressi esterni per meglio favorire un lavoro.
A differenza dei dispositivi di massa, legati per lo più all’ambito office o casalingo, o comunque quotidiano, i prodotti Rugged puntano a una fascia di lavoratori che ogni giorno ha a che fare con condizioni difficili e in molti casi estreme, come possono essere la variazione repentina della temperatura, un ambiente eccessivamente caldo o eccessivamente freddo, alto rischio di cadute anche da altezze elevate. Tutti fattori che distruggerebbero, letteralmente, in poco tempo un prodotto tradizionale.
Al contrario, questi device sono più pesanti rispetto ai loro “cugini” consumer, hanno un rivestimento in gomma e policarbonato altamente resistente che protegge il cuore interno, il processore e tutte le componenti più delicate dalle condizioni appena dette. Inoltre, hanno tecnologie solitamente più sofisticate – a scapito magari di un display meno brillante e strabiliante – per meglio elaborare i dati e in generale avere una maggiore velocità di calcolo, utile in condizioni di lavoro dove spesso il tempo è poco e certe operazioni vanno svolte molto velocemente.
Sono device che godono sempre delle migliori e più specifiche certificazioni di impermeabilità e resistenza alla polvere. E, inoltre, questi dispositivi ogni anno migliorano la loro dotazione di porte, lasciando sempre USB, infrarossi, HDMI e via dicendo in modo da velocizzare il trasferimento dei dati anche in assenza di connessione o senza dover aspettare di arrivare a casa o in ufficio.
Dopo questa premessa, quindi, di seguito un breve approfondimento sui dispositivi Ruggtek in arrivo nel 2020 e quelli che restano comunque i migliori all’acquisto per specifiche e rapporto qualità-prezzo.
Ruggtek RP 550 e RPA 550: un palmare piccolo, portatile e potente.
RP 550 e RPA 550 possono essere definiti due “gemelli diversi”: sono entrambi dei palmari – quindi, né laptop, né tablet – che condividono il design e componenti interne, ma hanno la fondamentale differenza nel sistema operativo:
RP 550 ha Windows 10, RPA 550 – come suggerisce la “A” nella sigla – monta Android.
Un palmare è un dispositivo progettato, da nome, a poter stare comodamente sul palmo della mano, ed è quindi molto leggero e maneggevole.
Come un portatile, anche il palmare ha una batteria interna che si può ricaricare e che gli permette un’autonomia di diverse ore senza dover rimanere attaccato alla presa di corrente.
Pur avendo delle similarità estetiche con uno smartphone, il palmare non è uno smartphone e rispetto a lui ha un’autonomia inferiore: questo si deve a delle componenti interne e, in caso di Windows, a un sistema operativo più energivori rispetto a uno smartphone, che quindi impedisce al palmare di avere un’autonomia che duri tutto il giorno.
Come un laptop, un palmare ha una batteria più grande. La differenza con un laptop è, invece, l’assenza di hard disk per cui la memoria si può espandere solo mediante ROM permanenti o schede SD/Micro-SD (le stesse di smartphone e fotocamere digitali).
Ruggtek RP 550 è un moderno palmare che offre all’utente la comodità di uno smartphone e la potenza di Windows 10 Pro.
Un device progettato tenendo conto dei nuovi standard Industry 4.0 che mettono insieme design e innovazione tecnologica, nonché resistenza agli urti, alle cadute e alle variazioni di temperatura.

La risoluzione è molto alta, e questo garantisce ancora di più qualità e luminosità: si parla di uno schermo 1080x1920p Full HD che consente di vedere foto e documenti in alta risoluzione, cosa fondamentale in un dispositivo che è stato pensato per il lavoro.

A livello tecnico, il dispositivo ha una CPU Intel x5, che si unisce a 4GB di memoria RAM: un connubio che dà al sistema operativo la possibilità di girare senza impuntamenti o altri problemi, potendo far funzionare non pochi programmi.
Ruggtek RPA 550 è, a livello estetico, il fratello gemello del dispositivo appena descritto, ma cambia in alcune componentistiche hardware e nel software.
Questo device, infatti, non ha Windows ma Android 7 Nougat: un sistema operativo più leggero, personalizzabile, fluido che tra l’altro gode dello Store di Applicazioni più grande in assoluto.
Inoltre, proprio per la maggiore leggerezza del Sistema, RPA 550 ha 3GB di RAM e 32GB di archiviazione – sempre espandibili – uniti a un processore MediaTek Quad-Core, che permette anche in questo caso un funzionamento fluido e scorrevole, senza alcun tipo di lag o problemi. La dotazione di porte, di funzionalità e certificazioni, invece, rimane la stessa del fratello con Windows.
Ruggtek RT 308: l’evoluzione del tablet Rugged.
Novità in ambito tablet è il Ruggtek RT 308, nuovo dispositivo della gamma in arrivo in questo 2020 che punta tutto sulla compattezza e sul peso leggero.
Il tablet, sempre fedele alla “missione Rugged”, quindi con certificazione IP per resistere a schizzi e polvere, ha un display da 8.1’’ – naturalmente multi-touch-screen – che lo rende molto piccolo e maneggevole.
La tecnologia Gorilla Glass, come visto, gli permette di essere molto resistente e di non graffiarsi.
Essere compatto non significa rinunciare alla potenza: la CPU Intel Quad-Core permette un ottimo funzionamento di Windows 10 Professional, OS più diffuso al mondo e su cui girano i principali software. Alla CPU si uniscono 4GB di RAM e 64GB di memoria d’archiviazione espandibile.
